Public Domain: The real- life Vortigern was a 5th-century warlord in Britain, known perhaps as a king of the Britons.The oldest chronicles say that he invited the saxon brothers Hengist and Horsa to aid him in fighting the Picts and the Scots. However, they revolted, beginning a terrible war on the Island, and forming the Kingdom of Kent. Vortigern's descendants founded the welsh kingdom of Powys.
