Who is Topspin?

Darren Mitchell is the grandson of one of the Kid Commandos, the second Human Top , David Mitchell. David and Gwenny Lou were victims of the Nazi villain Agent Axis who was going to experiment on them using a transfusion from android Human Torch . Darren used his scientific knowledge and his father's research to create his powers. He tends to be the V-Battalion's science officer, and he has sacrificed a lot growing up in a isolated environment. He feels that he is ready for the responsibilities against world conflict. However, with the death of his close friend Ameiko, the V-Battalion operative known as Goldfire , Darren feels that maybe there is no reason he should stay with the V-Battalion. However, following Ameiko's funeral, Darren discovered that his friend died doing what she believed in, and he also believed in her cause. He has returned to the V-Battalion more dedicated then ever.
